Privacy policy
This website, drongobooks.com, is run by Nathan Anderson, publishing as Drongo Books. This page explains what information is collected when you use the site, why, and what you can do about it. If you have any questions, email [email protected].
The short version
You can read the whole site and the free 15 page sample without giving us anything. We only hold personal information if you choose to join the mailing list, and you can leave whenever you like. We don't sell your information, and we don't use advertising cookies.
The mailing list
If you sign up to hear when pre-orders open, we collect your email address and any name you give. We use it to send you news about The Forbidden Fruit Tastes Sweet, its release, events and other Drongo Books news. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email or by emailing us.
The list is run by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which stores your details on our behalf. Kit is based in the United States and protects information transferred from the UK with the safeguards the law requires. Kit may record whether emails are opened or links are clicked, so we can see what readers find useful. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
WhatsApp channel
Our WhatsApp channel is provided by WhatsApp (Meta). Channel admins can't see followers' phone numbers. Your use of WhatsApp is covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across other websites and doesn't identify you personally. Links we share may carry a short tag (for example, showing a visit came from a QR code) so we can see which places send readers.
Hosting and security
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Settings stored on your device
If you switch between the light and dark theme, your browser remembers your choice on your device. The site also remembers, for your current visit only, that you've seen the opening animation. Neither is sent to us, and neither is used for tracking.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how it's used, or withdraw your consent. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The mailing list is for people aged 13 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
